Luxury vinyl in Arlington, TX from All-Pro Floors

Texture: making your luxury vinyl flooring “pop”

Thanks to modern technology like deeper embossing texture, which is mainly associated with hardwood floors, it is possible with a luxury vinyl plank to enhance the high-end, realistic appearance of this popular wood-look flooring.

Sometimes you need a little extra

Here’s a rundown of textured looks available to you.

1. Wire brushed: Genuine wire-brushing uses a steel brush to scrape away the softer wood to expose the deepest-of-the-deep heartwood. Creating a distressed look tends to highlight the variations in color that works in any decor.

2. Hand-scraped: This makes the floor look antiqued. With wood, it's often scraped by hand with a knife (or machine) to give the floor sort of a distressed look, highlighting color variations and ideal for rustic, farmhouse-style decor; this one is for you. It's also sometimes called "hand sculptured" or "soft scraped."

3. Distressed/weathered: While hand scraped does give a somewhat distressed look, this shows burn marks, wormholes, etc.

What is luxury vinyl plank flooring?

This is one of the forms of luxury vinyl (LVF); here, the material is cut into strips and mounted on boards to mimic hardwood. It is multi-layered, has a semi-rigid feeling underfoot, and, like all LVF, is 100% waterproof and highly durable. The other form of LVF, called LVT flooring, refers to the material being cut into groutable squares.

A premium and yet very budget-friendly product, this is an advanced version of the original vinyl, being five times thicker and coming with a robust top transparent wear layer to protect the floor from scratches and scuffs. In addition, it is made of waterproof materials, making the capability inherent, and can be either submerged or spilled-on.

Like all LVF, it is low maintenance, requiring only regular sweeping and periodic mopping. Installation can be a floating floor where pieces click, mat, and hover on the subfloor without nails or glue.

Because it's waterproof, vinyl plank flooring is ideal for kitchens, baths, and other wet spaces but has such style that we see it in every room in the house. Learn more, and get a free quote at the All-Pro Floors showroom in Arlington, TX, convenient also to Mansfield, Dallas, and Fort Worth.
